CREATURES OF LIGHT

This body of work is the culmination of several years of experimenting with light, reflection, and the use of non-traditional materials. This long time quest has being a search for a technique that allowed me to move away from my preconceived ideas in painting, and above all, fulfill my desire to liberate form and take advantage of the magical, transformative qualities of light….

The unsuspected result of this work with natural born patterns has being the appearance of a fantasy world of organic, chaotic creatures that, somehow manage to live in a contrastingly peaceful environment independent from “ ordinary life” ”. Non-the less, their ever changing nature makes them interact dynamically with the exterior, reacting to every source of light they are exposed to. No matter how weak the light, they are able to transmute, reflect and display brightness, never in the same way.

In this attempt to shape my view of the world I’ve learned that the process of painting is very much like the process of living… You have to approach it with humbleness and try not to get in the way of what is seeking expression through you.
So, my goal is to continue with the exploration of new materials that allow my work to evolve. Evolve in synchronicity with the direction I believe the different forms of visual expressions to be heading, that is the unrestricted manifestation of natural form itself…
