Mix media on canvas. 90 X 120 CM. 2023 Collection: BEFORE THE SHARD Relic No. BTS-V.O3 Energetic Function:Stabilizes the unseen. Symbolic Role: Guardian of concealed truths. Sentinel of the Shadow Bloom is not a figure—it is a frequency shield. The twin eyes, sharp yet undefined, hover in ambiguity. Their presence is both totemic and watchful, as if what they guard is not yet visible to the human eye. This relic does not reveal its source; it veils it deliberately, holding the line between known and unknowable. The work is sculptural in its illusion, architectural in its flow. Stark, interlocking forms traverse a field of smoky erosion, punctuated by shadow and rust—a chromatic reminder that beauty can ferment in decomposition. The curved, rising black spike suggests an awakening force beneath the veil, something not yet fully authorized to rise. Cognitively, this relic operates as a dimensional firewall. It initiates a subtle psychological suspension—denying the viewer closure or centrality. The eyes do not return the gaze. Instead, they remain slightly off—offsetting the viewer’s sense of dominance and instead activating an inner vigilance. The relic functions as a cognitive guardian, one that reminds us: not all truths are to be grasped immediately—some must be watched into bloom. This is not a relic of revelation. It is a relic of containment—of holding mystery intact until the system is ready to receive it. CURATORIAL COMMENTARY by Dong-hyun Yoon, Archive for Trans-Contextual Inquiry, ATI Seoul/Berlin.
